The VMAs

So, this year is the first I've watched the VMAs. The only reason I was so determined to watch it this year was because I really wanted to see the Michael Jackson tribute that started off the show. It was fantastic by the way! There were dancerst that paid tribute to Mike's most famous videos (like Thriller, Smooth Criminal, and Bad), and to end the tribute, Janet Jackson finished with her and Mike's song, Scream. It was great.

What pissed me off the most about the show was Kanye West's need to express his opinion on who should've won Female Video of the Year. Taylor Swift won the award, but in the middle of her speech, Kanye gets on stage, interrupts the young artist, and says that although he is happy for Taylor's win, Beyonce had the best video of all time. Okay Kanye, that's all nice and everything, but clearly the spotlight belonged to someone else at that moment. He could've kept that comment to himself,or maybe even expressed it during a speech of his own. I'm sure Beyonce would've won an award by the end of the night, which she did.

During her speech after winning Best Video of the Year, she decided to give Taylor another opportunity to say her speech. Aww, how thoughtful. I gain a little respect for Beyonce, but she's still not on my list for favorite artists. But her performance of Single Ladies was the best I've seen since she came out with the song.

Among other great performances and moments of this year's VMAs were performances by Jay-Z, Taylor Swift, Pink, Lady GaGa, and Madonna.

I think this year's VMAs was better than this year's BET awards and I am looking forward to watching it again next year.

ABDC- Top 5 Crews

Sunday's episode 5 of America's Best Dance Crew (better known as ABDC) brought about the latest dance crazes of this year. However, the judges threw in a challenging prop... all crews had to work in a trampoline into their routine. So, what did the show entail?

The show began with the top crew from last week, AfroBorike. The crew showed off its cultural dance style while mixing in the dance craze, swag surfin'. Massive Monkeys followed with doing the Ricky Bobby and its B-Boy style of dancing.

At the middle of the hour, Rhythm City combined their hip-hop style with the styles of jerking, sending Vogue Evolution and We Are Heroes to the elimination round.

Battling for the judges votes, We Are Heroes put its girly persona to the side to show the crowd and judges their rendition of the stanky leg. Afterwards, Vogue Evolution showed its skills while doing the Halle Berry. At the end, Vogue Evolution showed no match for We Are Heroes, and was sent packing.

Although I liked Vogue Evolution, especially for its unique style and extreme bravery for being the first and only homosexual (with on transgender) group, I believe that the judges made a good decision on picking We Are Heroes to stay in the competition.

The T.O. Show Season Finale

When The T.O. Show first aired, I didn't find much interest in it. I mean, come on... it's a reality show about a football player going to L.A. to find himself. My first thought... who cares? But as the season came to an end, the show began to interest me more. Instead of it being filled with the cockiness shown by most football players, it showed a much softer, funnier, and serious side of T.O... oh, excuse me, Terrell Owens.

Anyways, the show ended with one of Terrell's bestfriends, Monique (or Mo) finally having the wedding of her dreams (since the first wedding was at a courthouse). A lot of drama unfolded as the season ended. Mo's bestfriend, Kita, was indecisive of attending the wedding after a heated argument ended in Kita's un-invitation to the wedding. Terrell is going to the wedding without a date, or at least that's how it started out. Mo is having a hard time getting things together for the wedding without the help of her bestfriend. So, with all the drama, how does the season end?

At the end of it all, Kita comes to the wedding, the wedding is a success, Terrell has an unexpected guest as one of his love interests comes to the wedding. However, the entire point of the show was for T.O. to find himself... something I think he failed to do.

If you want to see the full episode of the finale, you're welcome to do so.

New Semester = New Blogs

Hello all! Sam-1 is back and ready to blog... well not really, but as long as I'm in MCOM classes (2 classes to be exact), I may as well function with a MCOM state of mind. :)

Last semester of blogging brought about topics concerning talk shows with shows ranging from The Tyra Banks Show to The View. This semester, I'll be blogging about something similar, but still different.

Reality shows, including competition shows, are like talk shows in that both are not really scripted. However, reality shows bring its audience more drama, excitement, and more to talk about when the show has gone off. This blog will discuss shows like BET's The T.O. Show and Frankie and Neffe, E!'s Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami, MTV's America's Best Dance Crew, Bravo's (but showing on Lifetime) Project Runway, and much more.

For more information on each show that I have named, click its name to be directed to its Web site.

I hope that you enjoy my blogs just as much as I will enjoy writing them.

Beyonce vs. Shane Mercado

I've been hearing about this youtube video for a while now, and I finally saw the video in a way it could relate to my blog... The Bonnie Hunt Show *1st time appearing on my blog :)* featured a young man by the name of Shane Mercado doing Beyonce's "Single Ladies" dance.

Click HERE to check it out and judge who did the best!

Here's what I think....
I am definitely not a big fan, or a fan at all of Beyonce. I just don't care for her very much and I think she gets a lot of credit to not be that good of a singer, dancer, or actress. But, not to be biased or anything, I definitely thought homeboy did a way better job with the dance than she did. It's just that he seemed to have put more into it than she did.

But that's just my opinion... what do you think?

Ridiculous School Discipline

Honestly, this blog was going to be about a Tyra show this week. But Dr. Phil's show on Friday quickly changed my mind. On the show, he talked about school discipline getting out of control. Remember being paddled in elementary or middle school? Or remember just simply being sentenced to a week of detention, missing recess, or being suspended for 5 days? Well how about being locked in a room by your teacher? Or being verbally abused by your teacher? Or being stripped searched by your teacher?

Click HERE for more about the show.

Here's what I think....
I don't care what happens in a school. The only discipline that should be enforced is some kind of detention or something of that nature. But (excuse the slang) I'll be hot dern if anybody from any school is going to lock my child in a room, verbally abuse my child, hit my child, or strip search them as a form of punishment. I'd be raising straight hell in that school system. That is just ridiculous for schools to allow that to happen. I remember my 1st year in middle school, my principal was on the news for paddling a student. Up to that point, I thought schools stopped paddling. All I know is whoever did those horrible things to those students need a beating too!

But that's just my opinion....what do you think??

Holidays = Family Drama

So... I always wondered why the holidays were sometimes dreaded by people, especially people with large families. After watching The Dr. Phil show today, I now understand why. Holidays equal family drama!

Click HERE to see the family drama that was on the show!

Here's what I think...
I guess my immediate family knows all about the drama that comes with holidays, so we avoid large crowds for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Our holidays consist of small gatherings with close family members (mainly the 6 of us who live in the house). Things just seem more peaceful that way because if the entire family were to get together, we have enough untold drama to last us from here to all eternity. As for the family from the show, I think it's ridiculous how the supposedly head-of-household (the father) is the one who starts the drama! First of all, he is too big for that.... second of all, he really should know better! That family should definitely take a clue from mine and just either celebrate holidays without the drama-king, or don't celebrate them at all!

But that's just my opinion... what do you think?
